About the 2024 DrupalSouth Steering Committee Elections

The DrupalSouth Steering Committee has been running since July 2019 with the primary purpose of ensuring continuity of DrupalSouth events and facilitating knowledge transfer to support the Drupal Community in Australia and New Zealand. Elections are held regularly according to the established DrupalSouth Steering Committee Charter.

This election will see all committee positions up for election on the following basis:

  • 3 seats from November 2024 until November 2026
  • 2 seats renew from May 2025 until May 2027

Seat renewals are staggered to provide continuity between elections. All existing members may self-nominate for re-election as no term limits have been reached this election. New candidates are welcome!

A call for self nomination for committee members will be made via groups.drupal.org and social media in September 2024. An email will be sent to the registered DrupalSouth mailing list. We encourage people in the community to register for the mailing list to stay up-to-date with DrupalSouth activity.

There are a variety of roles available, and support and mentoring is available for new committee members. There are roles outside the committee for people who would like to contribute but are unsure about the commitment required.

If there is sufficient interest, the current committee will run an open webinar at the beginning of the nomination period to help people understand the process,  and encourage participation either through nomination or voting.

The Steering Committee Charter provides a mechanism for existing terms to renew if not enough self-nominated candidates stand for election, or for the committee to invite candidates directly to replace existing members who wish to step down. The DrupalSouth Steering Committee is governed by the Linux Australia Council, who approved this approach.
