Give editors the keys: immersive design, no code required
Time: Thursday 19th November 14:15-14:45
Track: Non-technical
# 30 min talk
# Summary
Content teams shouldn't need a developer every time they want a page to feel different. No-code editor tools can empower them to create new experiences where content feels more engaging.
Editors can layer patterns, textures, overlays and specialised fonts directly within components, building immersive layouts without touching a line of code. Grids become flexible controls rather than fixed templates, and image variant modifiers add further depth and movement to a layout.
Colour is dynamic too. Teams can build distinct branded experiences for campaigns and targeted initiatives using custom skins that expand existing site palettes, each with dark mode built in.
None of this comes at the cost of compliance. Every combination editors can build stays accessible and responsive by design, so teams get creative freedom without compromising standards or the underlying design system.
This presentation will cover the following areas:
- The tradeoff between flexibility and control
- Balancing the interests of the designer, editor and themer
- Resolving the tension in a no-code environment
- Designing concepts for content first, augmented with presentation
- Layering the presentation layers in a fun and accessible manner.
- The presentation will also include a demo of how a simple component can be created and then progressively enhanced with the presentation components.
The presentation will be of interest to:
- Site owners requiring compliance
- Editors and marketers wanting structure and expressivity.
