Stranger Things in UX: Designing interfaces in a post-prompt world
Time: Thursday 14th May 14:40-15:10
Room: Loft
Track: User Experience & Content
AI is introducing a quiet shift in how digital interfaces behave. On the surface, everything still looks familiar. In the Upside Down, systems are beginning to anticipate intent, adapt content, and guide users before they ask.
This session explores how AI is changing UX design for Drupal, where it might go next, and how you can design AI-assisted experiences that remain clear, trustworthy and accessible for users. We will share real examples of how AI is already influencing experience patterns, and practical advice on how to advance your skills and knowledge in this area as the AI 'Mind Flayer' spreads its influence.
This talk is for designers, developers and product teams who want to understand what's changing in the field of user interface design, and what's coming next.

Speakers
Millie Clery
Millie Clery has been working in digital long enough to see a few “next big things” come and go. She’s the owner of a digital agency and spends her days deep in large Drupal and GovCMS websites, leading UX and UI design for platforms used by millions of people. Recently, her focus has shifted to what happens when AI starts influencing interfaces in subtle ways — not as a feature, but as a layer that shapes navigation, content and decision-making. Millie works with teams to make sense of this shift, helping clients plan realistic roadmaps, test ideas early and design experiences that can evolve without losing clarity or trust. She’s known for a calm, practical approach, a healthy scepticism of hype, and for designing award-winning interfaces that are genuinely enjoyable to use, while working with the strengths and realities of the platforms behind them.
Additional speakersOur Senior UX Designer, Anna Morgan (https://www.linkedin.com/in/anna-morgan-18213a8) and Specialist Drupal Developer, Jeannie Panting (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeannie-panting) may also be attending (still need to confirm a few things). If they come, I'd love to have at least one of them co-present with me. I'm all about encouraging women in tech to get up there and be visible.
