3 Quick thoughts for the future

With 30 years in the business and 20 years running Sparks Interactive, Dave might present a thoughtful retrospective on lessons learned and valuable insights for the future. Might but probably won't. Be prepared for a brief debunking of dearly held beliefs, rapid-fire reckons from a personal perspective, and snippets of popular music from the 80s, 90s, 2000s and today. Jerry Maguire had a manifesto, Dave just has some slides and his trademark impatience.

About Sparks:

We are.
Good people that make great websites. We’re an award winning full service digital agency with a fantastic track record of designing, building and supporting websites that deliver success. We take ownership for outcomes and always get the win. We love what we do.

We value.
What we do makes a difference. We believe in doing good business. We do work that is commercially successful, socially significant, and important to the client. We like to do work that is fun, interesting or gives us the chance to learn something. Everyone here likes the work we do, and likes making websites. We are here to do our best work and be effective, efficient and ethical in getting the outcomes needed for our clients and their audiences.

We believe.
Aim for greatness, fix mistakes and share what you do. Doing this, and learning as you go, means doing better the more you do. We’re open source advocates, and active members of a leading Drupal community across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific. We share in the work of others, learn from them and share back in turn. There is 5, 10, 20 years of history in every new thing we do. Thank you to our friends.

Dave Sparks
I've been making websites since 1997, and making them with Drupal since 2007. I manage a web agency that specialises in Drupal, and open source contribution. We've published an open source distribution called Sector since 2016. I have spoken at DrupalSouth, organised DrupalSouth 2017 in Auckland and DrupalSouth Shorts online series in 2021.
