(Lightning talk) - My journey to becoming a Core maintainer
Track: Drupal Development
In 2024, I became a Drupal core maintainer for Layout Builder, and this session will focus on the journey that led me there. The goal of this session is to encourage others to find their own niche within Drupal core and consider a path toward core maintainership.
The Drupal core codebase is large, and it's impossible to know everything. I'll discuss how focusing on a specific area (like Layout Builder for me), can lead to becoming a subject matter expert. I’ll outline the steps I took to reach this role, why I chose Layout Builder, and give tips for finding other areas in Drupal core that need maintainers and could use some more people getting involved to help move them forward.
This session is ideal for anyone interested in getting more involved in Drupal core and learning how to make an impact by focusing on a specific area.
