Award judges

The following information relates to the call for judges to be published via email. We want to encourage a broad panel of judges from various backgrounds and expertise. Judges are required to evaluate every submission across all six categories. Judges award a decimal score for each of the following criteria:

Concept & Strategy

Is the concept clear, unique and consistently implemented? Does the website tell a clear story? Does the chosen strategy and the final elaboration of the product fit the objectives that served as the starting point of the project?

Design & UX

Everything that is visible for the end user, including UX, motion and visual design on both desktop and mobile. Is the case of high quality, does it fit the target audience, and does the design support the message that needs to be conveyed?

Business Case

Online environments are developed for a purpose. Increase sales, lower costs, provide a better brand experience, etc. Do the results show that the goals have been achieved or exceeded?

Technology

Websites must be fast and function properly. Does this case represent Drupal best practices, and is it built to stand the test of time? Is it built to ease operations for the client?

Community Value

Drupal is an open source platform and owes its existence to the community behind it. Does this case return value back to the community, either in code contribution or via other means?

Quality of execution

Quality aspects such as SEO, performance and accessibility can not be ignored while judging the cases.

Innovation

Does this case represent a shift in thinking that other sites could learn from, or is it just another website? Does this case move us forward and challenge us to be better?

Judges

Because each case is judged on a wide range of criteria, it is important that judges are well versed in multiple disciplines and not just in one or two silos.

Each judge is expected to be experienced in the design and development of websites across a range of industries, ideally but not necessarily when using Drupal. This means that each submission is being judged by peers within their own industry.

Judges likely have a background in at least three of the following: Strategy, project management, Drupal development, product ownership, leadership, design, and technology.

Judges are required to self-nominate via the DrupalSouth website. Up to 10 judges will be selected based on this suitability and experience by the DrupalSouth Steering Committee. Applications for judges are open until March 30, 2023

Judging will take place between April 21 and April 30, 2023. Judges will need to have time available in this period to review the submissions to the Splash Awards and rank each submission in each category.
